62% Firms Experienced Deepfake Attacks Globally In Last 12 Months, AI Apps New Target: Report
A recent Gartner survey of 302 cybersecurity leaders across North America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific (conducted March–May 2025) found that 62% of organizations experienced a deepfake attack in the past year, typically via social engineering or exploiting automated systems. Additionally, 32% reported attacks on AI applications through prompt manipulation, and 29% said their organization’s generative AI infrastructure was targeted. The report warns that as AI adoption grows, attacks using deepfakes, phishing, and adversarial prompt techniques are becoming more common. The authors recommend reinforcing core security controls rather than overhauling systems entirely.
