Amazon's latest anti-piracy move is more bad news for Fire TV owners

The article explains that Amazon has escalated its fight against piracy on its Fire TV devices by now blocking the installation of certain sideloaded apps that provide access to unlicensed content. Previously, Fire TV would stop piracy apps from launching, but the latest change now prevents those apps from being installed at all, often showing a message that the installation has been blocked because the app offers unlicensed content. This action is part of Amazon’s broader anti-piracy efforts, which include the new Vega OS on some Fire TV sticks that eliminates sideloading entirely, allowing only apps from the official Amazon Appstore. Content creators and rights holders have pushed for stronger protections against illegal streaming, and Amazon is now taking more direct technical measures to enforce these restrictions on both older Android-based Fire TV devices and newer models.
