Anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy technology guide (ACAPT Guide)
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has published its “Anti-Counterfeiting and Anti-Piracy Technology Guide” (“ACAPT Guide”), which provides businesses—especially SMEs—with a knowledge base of more than 40 technologies designed to protect against counterfeit goods and piracy. The guide categorises solutions into fields like electronic, marking (physical & digital), chemical/physical, mechanical, and technologies for digital media (e.g., DRM, watermarking). It also covers shared-ledger (blockchain) approaches and applicable ISO standards, helping companies choose and implement cost-effective technologies suited to their risk profile.
