DAZN to continue Belgian league broadcasts after arbitration ruling
The report says DAZN will continue producing and broadcasting Belgian Pro League football until the end of the current season after emergency arbitration initiated by Belgium’s Pro League. DAZN had announced it would let its contract expire under Belgian law, arguing it could not meet a distribution condition tied to securing viable deals with telecom operators, a move the league said amounted to a unilateral exit.
While DAZN said it could not discuss the arbitrator’s decision because it is confidential, the Pro League said the ruling requires DAZN to keep paying fees as agreed, keep delivering match production and broadcasts, apply promised anti piracy and geo blocking measures, and continue negotiations with telecom operators to conclude distribution agreements.
The article adds that the domestic rights for 2025 to 2030 were awarded to DAZN in December 2024 in a deal expected to be worth at least 84.2 million euros per season. Pro League leadership welcomed the decision as protecting fans, clubs, and Belgian football, while DAZN Belgium’s CEO stressed the interim measures do not decide the underlying dispute and said DAZN expects a full arbitration panel to confirm its position later.
