Delhi man arrested in AI revenge porn case targeting mother and daughter
A 27 year old Delhi man, identified as Sumit Nemchand Sharma, was arrested by the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch for allegedly using artificial intelligence to create and distribute sexually explicit fake images and videos of a woman and her mother. Police said the harassment began after the woman rejected his attempt to develop a friendship with her.
Sharma reportedly first contacted the Ahmedabad based social media influencer through Instagram, where their initial conversations focused on religion and spirituality. After she declined his friendship proposal, investigators allege that he began stalking her online between December 2025 and April 2026.
According to police, Sharma downloaded photographs of the woman and her mother from Instagram and searched online for AI tools capable of digitally removing clothing. He allegedly used several websites to generate more than 100 fabricated nude images and videos from the original photographs.
Investigators say he then created multiple fake social media profiles using the victim’s identity and photographs. Police found approximately eight to ten accounts across Instagram, Facebook, X and YouTube, where the manipulated material was allegedly published alongside obscene messages intended to humiliate and harass the woman and damage her reputation.
The woman eventually filed a complaint with Ahmedabad cybercrime authorities. Investigators used technical analysis and other intelligence to identify Sharma and apprehended him at his home in Delhi. Digital evidence recovered from his phone allegedly connected him to the fake accounts and the AI generated material.
Sharma reportedly produces religious and spiritual content online and was involved in religious ritual work. The case was registered under provisions of India’s Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita concerning stalking and defamation, as well as provisions of the Information Technology Act covering identity related cybercrime and publishing obscene electronic material.
The arrest was also linked to Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch’s “Mission Cyber Rakshika: #SecureHerSpace,” an initiative focused on protecting women from online harassment, deepfakes, impersonation, blackmail and other forms of digital exploitation.
