IBCAP Announces $25 Million Copyright Infringement Lawsuit against UK-based Hosting Provider Innetra PC
The International Broadcaster Coalition Against Piracy (IBCAP) has filed a $25 million copyright infringement lawsuit against UK-based hosting provider Innetra PC and its general partner, Elna Paulette Belle. Filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the lawsuit alleges that Innetra facilitated illegal streaming of content from 22 IBCAP member channels through at least 15 pirate services in the U.S., accounting for approximately 15% of unauthorized streams detected by IBCAP in 2024. Despite receiving over 300 infringement notices, Innetra largely ignored them and openly advertised non-compliance with the DMCA. IBCAP seeks statutory damages up to $25.65 million, an injunction to halt further infringement, and recovery of profits and legal costs. This marks IBCAP’s third lawsuit against a non-U.S.-based hosting provider, following actions against Datacamp and Virtual Systems.
