Hacıosmanoğlu vows clean sweep in Turkish football betting scandal
İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, president of Turkish Football Federation (TFF), announced a major escalation in the ongoing betting scandal within Turkish football. His statement revealed that the investigation will now expand beyond the 149 referees and over 1,000 suspended players to include coaches, technical staff, club representatives, medical personnel and match-observers. He confirmed that information from betting firms had been requested — and criminal complaints filed against firms refusing to cooperate — while defending the integrity of the data collection via state-licensed agencies. Hacıosmanoğlu described the process as both a legal and moral obligation, with the aim of leaving “a clean Turkish football” for future generations. Disciplinary measures, including suspensions, point-deductions for clubs and potential bans, are being prepared depending on findings.
