Major crackdown on audiovisual piracy: Creator of “Al Angulo TV” arrested for illegally broadcasting football matches

Argentine authorities have arrested the founder of “Al Angulo TV,” a major piracy platform, in Paraná, Entre Ríos. The arrest, executed on August 21, 2025, was part of a coordinated investigation led by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Cybercrime (UFEIC) in San Isidro. The operation, ordered by Judge Esteban Eduardo Rossignoli of the Juzgado de Garantías No. 4, resulted in the seizure of computers, cell phones, and other equipment used in orchestrating illegal live streams of national and international football matches, as well as high-profile events like Formula 1  .

This investigation was conducted in partnership with ALIANZA (the Alliance Against Audiovisual Piracy) and LaLiga. The suspect—known online as “Shishi”, real name Alejo Leonel Warles—operated the service across multiple mirror domains and an Android app that amplified the platform’s reach. Revenue from the illegal broadcasts was generated through informal advertising and monetized using cryptocurrencies and virtual wallets; these assets were also confiscated  .

This case is part of a broader anti-piracy strategy, which includes IP and DNS blocking, takedowns of illegal APK apps, and the establishment of an anti-piracy “War Room” coordinated by LaLiga in Argentina  .
