NRI's beware of Deportation risks with Pirated IPTV
A vast global IPTV piracy network — including brands like Boss IPTV, Guru IPTV, Tashan IPTV and others — illegally streamed premium Indian and international content (e.g., Netflix, Amazon Prime, US networks) at low prices through set-top boxes, smart‑TV apps, and websites. Users believed they were scoring a bargain, but the operators also collected sensitive personal data (credit cards, passwords, IDs), which could fuel cybercrime, tax fraud, and even terrorism financing . Legal OTT platforms and enforcement agencies in India and the US have dismantled this syndicate. The piracy case, linked to major broadcasters’ losses estimated at US $200–300 million annually, led YuppTV and other platforms to file criminal copyright charges under US law (18 U.S.C. § 2319). The US Immigration authorities warn non-citizen users that using pirated IPTV services could be considered serious crimes that might result in criminal prosecution and potential deportation . Authorities strongly advise stopping the use of illegal streams and switching to licensed platforms to avoid legal, financial, and immigration consequences.
