Protesters target WWDC in call for 'nudify' App Store bans
Protesters gathered outside Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) urging the company to remove so called “nudify” apps from the App Store. These AI powered applications can generate fake nude images from ordinary photographs, often without the subject’s consent. Advocacy groups argued that such tools facilitate harassment, sexual exploitation, and the creation of nonconsensual intimate imagery, disproportionately affecting women and minors. Demonstrators claimed Apple has not done enough to prevent these apps from being distributed through its platform and called for stronger review processes and stricter enforcement. The protest reflects growing pressure on major technology companies to address AI generated sexual content and limit the availability of tools that can be used for abuse and deepfake pornography.
