‘Revenge Porn’ Lawsuit Filed Involving Santa Clarita Church Leadership
A civil lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County alleges that leaders of Placerita Bible Church in Santa Clarita improperly handled and further shared explicit images of a woman that were allegedly obtained and distributed by her estranged husband during a contentious divorce. The husband, Andrew Wilder, has separately been charged under California’s revenge porn law for allegedly distributing private images without consent. The lawsuit claims church leaders, including elders, showed the images to the woman’s father and failed to protect her privacy after she sought help from the church. The plaintiff alleges emotional distress, invasion of privacy, and mishandling of sensitive material, while the legal proceedings against both the husband and church leaders remain ongoing.
