Streaming Piracy Crackdown ‘KRATOS 2’ Leads to 29 Arrests, Targets Remain Unknown

TorrentFreak’s report on Operation KRATOS 2 highlights that, despite the scale of the international anti piracy crackdown, authorities have not publicly identified the specific IPTV services or streaming platforms that were targeted. The seven month operation, coordinated by Bulgaria with Europol’s support, resulted in 29 arrests, the dismantling of nine organized crime groups, and the removal of more than 27,000 illegal streaming URLs. TorrentFreak notes that this lack of transparency mirrors previous anti piracy operations, where law enforcement focused on disrupting the broader criminal infrastructure rather than naming consumer facing brands. Europol said the strategy targeted the technical ecosystem behind piracy networks, including servers, domains, payment systems, and operators, to gather intelligence and identify key suspects. The report suggests that further phases of the operation may follow, but the identities of the main piracy services remain undisclosed.
