US: FBI has seized a popular Nintendo Switch piracy site
The FBI, with help from the Dutch financial crime agency FIOD, has seized the domain NSW2U.com, a major hub for distributing pirated Nintendo Switch game ROMs. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia issued the warrant under 18 U.S.C. § 2323 .
Visitors to the site now see a government seizure notice displaying logos of the FBI, U.S. Department of Justice, and FIOD . The FBI’s Atlanta Field Office confirmed this takedown included several major piracy domains (e.g., nsw2u.com, nswdl.com), collectively responsible for roughly 3.2 million illegal game downloads—estimated losses totaling $170 million .
This enforcement follows Nintendo’s intensifying anti-piracy campaign, which previously targeted emulators like Yuzu and leveraged legal action against piracy facilitators. Nintendo has even taken steps to ban users of pirated software from Switch 2 online services .
