Kaltura and Verimatrix Partner to Strengthen Security for OTT and Cloud TV Services
Kaltura and Verimatrix have announced a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening security for OTT and Cloud TV services. The collaboration combines Kaltura’s Cloud TV platform with Verimatrix’s content protection and anti piracy technologies, with existing customers expected to migrate to the integrated solution over the coming months.
The partnership is designed for telecommunications companies, broadcasters, media organizations and streaming operators delivering premium live and on demand content across connected TVs, set top boxes, mobile devices and web applications. Verimatrix technology will be integrated into Kaltura’s Marketplace and Cloud TV ecosystem.
A central component of the offering is Multi DRM protection, designed to control access to premium video across different devices and operating systems. The companies say the integrated technology will also strengthen defenses against piracy, credential sharing and unauthorized access.
The partnership reflects the increasing importance of content security to the economics of streaming. Kaltura and Verimatrix argue that rights holders require robust anti piracy protections before licensing valuable content, particularly premium entertainment and live sports, while operators face revenue losses from practices such as password sharing and stream ripping.
The companies also emphasize scalability. The combined solution is intended to support both established television services and rapidly growing OTT platforms while simplifying integration and deployment. Customers will receive ongoing technical and delivery support from both companies.
Kaltura SVP Oren Ben Kohav said the partnership allows Kaltura to integrate proven and scalable security directly into its Cloud TV offering. Carlo Stramaglia, Head of Anti Piracy Business at Verimatrix, said integrating Verimatrix technology directly into Cloud TV workflows can help operators protect both premium content and subscriber revenue as their services expand.
Beyond security, Kaltura is continuing to develop AI driven functionality through its Agentic Avatars, conversational video agents capable of understanding viewer intent and dynamically presenting relevant content. The technology can, for example, guide sports viewers toward particular matches or highlights and support engagement and monetization.
The companies planned to demonstrate the integrated solution at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, with Kaltura presenting its Cloud TV and AI technologies and Verimatrix showcasing the security technologies supporting the partnership.
