MPA applauds UK High Court’s “omnibus” order to block digital piracy
The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has welcomed a new UK High Court “omnibus” site blocking order that makes it easier to combat online piracy. The order allows rights holders to block proven piracy services more efficiently when operators evade enforcement by switching domain names, creating mirror sites, or rebranding their services. The MPA argues that piracy networks have become increasingly agile and automated, making traditional court by court blocking procedures too slow and burdensome. Supporters say the ruling will enable faster and more scalable enforcement while maintaining judicial safeguards. The decision is viewed as a significant development in the fight against digital piracy and reflects growing efforts to adapt enforcement tools to rapidly evolving online infringement tactics.
