Statement on the Current State of Copyright Infringement by Generative AI Services and the Protection of Rights
Japan’s Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA) announced further expansion of its international anti piracy efforts through stronger cooperation with overseas partners and regulators. The initiative focuses on protecting Japanese content such as anime, manga, films, television programs, music, and games from copyright infringement and illegal distribution. CODA emphasized information sharing, joint investigations, enforcement actions, and collaboration with foreign authorities and industry groups to combat increasingly sophisticated piracy networks. The organization said international cooperation is essential as online piracy continues to grow across borders and threatens the global market for Japanese creative content.
